Accompanied by Dr. Haunara and staff from the Order of Malta Clinic in Dili, the Embassy Counsellor Mr. Alastair Furnival and the Order’s volunteer organiser Mr. Dalton Fogarty, travelled to Maubara in the Liquiçá Municipality. Liquiçá is 40km West of the capital, Dili. The visit was to evaluate the existing medical facilities available to the local population. This assessment will determine how the Order of Malta’s Clinic in Comoro (Dili) may best support healthcare services in the region.

The collaboration aims to foster stronger connections between the two clinics and ensure the delivery of high-quality medical care to the communities they serve.

There is a natural link between the Comoro Clinic and the Maubara health facility through the Jape family. On their visit to Maubara, Mr. Alastair Furnival and Mr. Dalton Fogarty paid their respects at the childhood home of the late Mr. Jape Kong Su, who died in Darwin on 21 September 2022, aged 97.
